Rovers Complete Construction confirmed its top ranking in the KFC Alice Springs Netball Division 1 and avenged a round 11 loss on Saturday. It defeated Wests Epilogue 52-38. It had lost the June meeting 44-60. This time the Rovers defence, led by goalkeeper Tracey Meekings who kept Wests' shooter Matilda Herben to 20 goals, provided the foundation for the win. At the other end Piper Nicolai slotted in 23 goals and Molly Southam scored 29. Rovers began the game fast, with Nicolai scoring nine goals, and had 14 goals, to Wests nine, on the board after the first 15 minutes.
Wests moved Ebony Miller out from goal keeper to goal defence and Shakira Hayes to wing defence at the first break. The moves worked with Wests cutting the deficit to one after outscoring Rovers 11-7. But that was the end for Wests as Rovers put its foot down scoring 16 goals to eight in the third term with Southam scoring 10 goals. She repeated this in the final term as Rovers added another 15 goals to 10 to run out the game to the final whistle.

A haul of 62 goals by Brooke Wilson steered Federal Eastside Red to a 75-45 win against Wests Gillen Club in the other Division 1 game played on Saturday. It was an even performance by Federal scoring 18 goals in the first quarter and then 19 in each of the next three. Wests performed well enough to win games with Danelle Gardner and Katelyn Gardner sharing the scoring of at least 10 goals a quarter apart from the last when they scored eight. But it was not enough as Federal shot out to an eight-goal lead by quarter time and kept on increasing it in each subsequent term.

In Division 2, Neata Glass Giants consolidated second position with a 36-19 win against top side Seasons Flinders University. The writing was on the wall from the start when Giants shot out to a 9-3 lead. In other Division 2 games: Sundowners Alice Hospitality Supplies defeated Federal AKC 56-36 and Wests Jaws Contracting forfeited to Rovers Complete Construction at half time after starting the game with five players. Rovers led 34-7 at the time.

Division 3 saw Giants Alice Springs Brewing Co defeat Rovers BnTz 49-35 by scoring 30 goals in the second half. Rovers played 15-and-under Lara Duncum at centre for the entire game. In other games Wests Ward Keller defeated Federal P&V Flames 46-38 and Giants GSD held off Federal Swifts 36-34. Giants had a match-winning second term scoring 13 goals to six, Sarah Gilbert slotting in nine.

Raging Rovers gave its finals chances a boost with a one-goal win against Wests Loco Burrito. The 41-40 win against the third placed Division 4 side put Rovers in fourth position with one game to play.
In the other games in the Division Sundowners Gap View Hotel defeated Giants Alice Kustom Paint Supplies 46-20, Seasons was too strong for Wests Jaws Contracting winning 40-22 and Giants Dreamers out played Sundowners Club Eastside to win 45-29. Giants set up its 16-goal win by dominating the first three terms leading 37-21 at the final change. Sophie Hunt was a great target in attack shooting 34 goals for the game.

Rovers Complete Construction will be presented with the Mayor’s Cup for being Division 1 Minor Premiers by Mayor, Matt Paterson this Saturday at 3pm.
